Xradia has assembled a team of the world’s experts in x-ray optic microscopy imaging techniques and software together with a management team led by experienced executives with a track record of establishing and managing successful high technology companies.
Wenbing Yun, Ph.D.
Founder, CEO & President
Dr. Wenbing Yun, Founder, CEO and President of Xradia, Inc, has over 20 years of experience in developing advanced x-ray optics and x-ray imaging techniques. He has numerous issued and pending patents on x-ray optics and imaging, and has authored more than 100 publications.
Before founding Xradia in 2000, Dr. Yun was a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL) responsible for the development of x-ray microfocusing optics and the three-dimensional x-ray tomography program. He demonstrated the first x-ray imaging microscope with sub 150-nm resolution that operated in the 4–10 keV x-ray region and used a zone plate lens as an objective lens. Prior to LBL, he was a physicist at Argonne National Laboratory where he initiated the x-ray microscopy program at the Advanced Photon Source.
Dr. Yun received his PhD degree in Physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, under the supervision of Profs. David Sayre and Janos Kirz. His thesis work on x-ray diffraction imaging analysis of none-periodic biological specimen has evolved as one of the most important x-ray techniques that may promise to obtain 3D structural information of biological molecules
Michael Feser, Ph.D.
Vice President, Zone Plate Microscopy
Dr. Feser has 9 years of research experience in the field of x-ray microscopy, x-ray optics and x-ray detectors. During his research at Stony Brook University he designed and built a complete scanning x-ray microscope for a beamline at Brookhaven National Laboratory for materials and biomedical research. Dr. Feser has earned a Vordiplom (Bachelor degree) in Physics from Bayerische Julius-Maximilians Universität Würzburg, Germany and a Ph.D. in Physics from State University of New York at Stony Brook, NY.
Michael joined Xradia in 2003 as staff scientist to work on the achromatic Fresnel lens. With his help, Xradia developed technology to fabricate high-efficiency EUV zone plates for next generation lithography and metrology applications. He led the effort on Xradia’s x-ray fluorescence imaging system and optics development team, which introduced of the nanoXFITM fluorescence imager in 2004.
S. H. Lau
Vice President of Sales & Marketing
S H has over 20 years experience in sales, marketing and business development of analytical instrumentation across a wide spectrum of industries. While with Philips Analytical in Asia, he pioneered the concept of application specific seminars and total solution-turn key project selling for Philips’ range of x ray and electron microscopy products. It resulted in securing more than 80% of the projects.
He subsequently helped establish Hitachi into a market leader for its SEM products in the fledging semiconductor industry in Singapore. As president of SEMICAPS Inc- the USA subsidiary of a Singapore start-up, he helped elevate SEMICAPS to a credible global player in Failure Analysis instrumentation. As the vice president of Frontier Semiconductor, FSM, he was one of the chief architects in overseeing product development and successful launch of a series of material and electrical characterization metrology tools, covering frontend, backend of line and packaging applications for the semiconductor, III-Vs and MEMs industry.
Thomas J. Miller, CPA
Director of Finance & Administration
Tom joined the company in October 2001 from Discovery Partners International (DPI) where he had served as the Divisional Controller of their Combinatorial Chemistry Drug discovery business. In addition to his duties as the Divisional Controller, he assisted in the successful preparation and filing of DPl's Initial Public Offering which netted $98M in July 2000. From 1989 to 1999, he held management positions with Chiron Corporation and LifeScan, Inc. (J&J Company) and played a key role in both companies' domestic and overseas financial operations. From 1979 through 1989 Tom held financial staff positions with the Weyerhaeuser Company, Hills Brothers Coffee (Nestle Company) and Genentech, Inc. Tom graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1979 where he majored in Accounting. He holds both a California and Washington state CPA license.
